Uroxsys needed compliant hazardous goods storage on a lease manufacturing site without building permanent infrastructure. Arkulus delivered relocatable and external Type D four-hour fire-rated vaults with zero separation distance that gave the business long-term flexibility.
The need: A compliant, flexible hazardous goods storage solution for a leased site
When Uroxsys approached Arkulus, they were looking for an on-site storage solution for class 3 flammables that was:
- HSWA Compliant
- Relocatable
- Onsite
- Able to store large volumes of class 3 flammables with zero separation distances and minimal disruption to business operations
First and foremost, any hazardous substance storage solution Uroxsys considered needed to be compliant. Uroxsys operates in a highly regulated environment where hazardous substances must be strictly segregated from protected places, and HSWA requirements mean certain materials are subject to strict on-site volume limits.
Building a permanent concrete bunker was not a viable option given the business operates from a leased site, and the cost of construction would have taken many years to justify. Therefore, a relocatable solution was essential.
The solution also needed to be located onsite, close to their manufacturing operations, as using off-site storage would have reduced production flexibility, introduced operational risk, and added the cost and complexity of product movements associated with engaging a third-party logistics provider.
Finally, they required a solution that would minimise disruption to business operations while enabling high-volume hazardous goods storage with zero separation distance.
The Arkulus Solution
Arkulus provided an Arkulus Vault 6M External solution designed to meet Type D storage requirements.

The external 6M Vault enabled compliant storage of hazardous goods directly adjacent to existing buildings, removing the need for separation distances or new construction.

The solution delivered four-hour fire resistance, integrated secondary containment and – most important of all – was fully relocatable, which provided Uroxsys compliance certainty without locking the business into permanent infrastructure.
- Uroxsys stores their class 3 flammables in standard 205L drums, as well as in smaller containers on shelving. With the 6M External Vault, it’s possible for them to double stack 3x2 pallets, allowing for 36 drums in total, and many more tins up to 20L – that's over 8,000L of storage in total.
